Voting Through the Violence

Nigeria is an African country that, like many others, in in the process of converting to democracy.  There was just recently another election held for which 60 million people in the country turned out to vote.  However, the problem arose when members of Boko Haram murdered 41 people for trying to turn the country democratic by voting for a president.  The Boko Haram is a group of Islamic extremists who are trying to force the country to return to an Islamic caliphate for its government.  Their end-goal of this was to scare people away from the polls to prevent the election from occurring; luckily, they failed.

This event is horribly evil for numerous reasons, aside from the fact that murder is inherently immoral and wrong.  Most importantly is that this one tiny subdivision of the population is trying to decide what's best for the country despite the fact that most people support democracy.  The Boko Haram has to realize that they can't make a difference if 60 million support it and their one small group of extremists disagrees with it.  This is also wrong in that the Boko Haram is trying to deprive the Nigerians of the government they want just because it disagrees with their political views.

Totes True Facts About Me

Yo yo yo welcome to Hunter’s Spring-Through-Summertime Blogging Retreat, you can enjoy yourself but it’s not like I care (please stay).  Some general facts about me are that I’m slender, somewhat smart, and have poofy hair.  As for my family, I have one brother named Connor and my two parents.  I recently went to Cozumel, Mexico, a tiny island off the coast of Cancun for a family vacation.  The vacation as a whole was fine but most importantly, I wore boat shoes on an actual boat!  This gave me so much white kid street cred I can easily join whichever frat I want in college.  My brother wants me to join his frat at Lincoln so we can party together, obviously with no alcohol present since college students never drink as they’re under the legal age.
Something unique about me is that I’m a lifeguard for the city which makes me super tan over the summer; however, this year I’m at an indoor pool so there’s basically no point in working.  I’m a stellar lifeguard, I even learned how to jump in and save someone without getting my hair wet!  Although one time a girl seemed to be drowning but I didn’t want to get wet since it was cold so I just let her be since I figured natural selection would take care of it, it was dumb on her part to jump in if she couldn’t swim (she lived).  Other than that we had habitual bottle-throwers who would break bottles in our pool area so we would have to clear the shrapnel.  There were numerous wartime injuries inflicted upon the other guards, many never saw their wives or children again.
I’m known around my school for being athletic, a jack-of-all-trades if you will, since I ran cross country for 2 weeks before quitting since it was too easy.  Then I took up trap shooting and mock trial to stay in top physical condition for when I retake the cross country field.  I’m also pretty fantastic at French, not that it really matters since it’s French but still, I can speak that useless language like nobody’s business.  It’s still better than Latin though, that language literally hasn’t had a use for a couple thousand years or so.
